Documentary film: 48 minutes

Original French version

A film written and directed by Alexandre Freteau and Romain Guilbert

Why leave?

Through a year of adventure and inner quest, The Awakening follows two young documentary filmmakers who cross Asia and Japan by bicycle to rediscover life in a world that is collapsing.

From the jungles of Thailand to the forests of Cat Ba, from the macaques of Kamikōchi to the sacred slopes of Mount Fuji, the film unfolds an initiatory tale where each encounter becomes a call: to return to the rhythm of the world. At the summit of Fuji, at the sacred dawn of Goraikō, a truth becomes clear: protecting life is not a mission, but a vow.

Filmed over a year, the film takes place in Japan and retraces a year of cycling adventure, from France to the foot of Mount Fuji.

A slow journey, following the landscapes and encounters.

The Awakening is an independent film produced by the Imaginer's World association.
