THE AWAKENING Documentary film, 48 min
Original language: French Subtitles available: English, Spanish

A film written and directed by Alexandre Freteau and Romain Guilbert French with English subtitles

Why leave? Through a year of adventure and inner exploration, The Awakening follows two young documentary filmmakers as they cycle across Asia and Japan to reconnect with life in a world that is collapsing. From the jungles of Thailand to the forests of Cat Ba, from the macaques of Kamikoshi to the sacred slopes of Mount Fuji, the film unfolds an initiatory tale where each encounter becomes a call: to return to the rhythm of the world. At the summit of Fuji, at the sacred dawn of Goraikō, a truth becomes clear: protecting life is not a mission, but a vow. Filmed over a year, the film takes place in Japan and retraces a year-long cycling adventure, from France to the foot of Mount Fuji. A slow journey, unfolding through landscapes and encounters. Awakening is an independent film produced by the Imaginer’s World association.
